The Orkney Islands have charted a unique course through history. Populated for thousands of years by Neolithic tribes, Picts, Norsemen and then the Scots, the archipelago now has a distinct cultural ambiguity; recognisably Scottish, yet with a deep-rooted Norse ancestry. Dan is joined by Professor Donna Heddle, Director of the UHI Institute for Northern Studies, to explain where Orkney fits into the broader Atlantic world.
Produced by James Hickmann and edited by Dougal Patmore.
