🎧 The Siege of Rhodes: Classical Antiquity's Most Insane Battle
42m
Stephen deCasien joined me to talk through the most INSANE battle of Classical Antiquity, that most people likely have never heard of. In 305/304 BC, the island of Rhodes came up against the superpower of the time: the Antigonid Kingdom. One city against a superpower, what followed was a siege of epic proportions. Siege towers on ships, harbour assaults, pirates, massive land siege towers, sapping beneath the walls, multi-layed wall defences - this siege has it all, with twist and turns occurring throughout. The story is amazing, and by far one of my favourite in history. Another reason why the Wars of Alexander the Great's successors are so remarkable and extraordinary. Enjoy!
