By September Arminius' plan was afoot, this unwieldy Roman column was about to be savagely attacked, Arminius unleashed his first strike. A hail of missiles - spears and slingshot - suddenly rained down on the unsuspecting Roman column. Before a horde of bloodthirsty Germanic warriors descended from the treeline, attacking their foe from all directions.

But these soldiers were the greatest of their age, surely they could easily take on some troublesome barbarians?
