Mary-Ann started her journey at the Uffington white horse, adventured through the mythical world of Waylands Smithy and the magical Polisher stone on Fyfield down, in episode two we’ll be investigating the mysteries that surround the Ridgeway, meeting archeological experts and families who have farmed here for generations.
Her first stop is the second largest long barrow in the country, West Kennett Long Barrow. Heading deep into the tomb with English Heritage Curator Dr Jennifer Wexler, Mary-Ann uncovers the secrets of the ancient dead before the pair move on to the magical Silbury Hill.
This man-made mound holds many myths: some say the golden treasures of King Sil lie buried deep within, while others claim the Devil dropped it in anger after a defeat in nearby Marlborough. Its true purpose remains unknown, but luckily Jennifer is there to help decipher the archeological evidence.
Mary-Ann’s final night on the Ridgeway is at the beautiful Farm at Avebury and after a good night’s sleep in the shadows of Silbury Hill she’s off to meet Rob the owner to find out how his family has worked this land for generations.
But there's still one more part of the journey to complete. Mary-Ann has her walking boots back on and is heading down the Avenue, right to the spiritual heart of Wiltshire, Avebury Henge. Here she’s meeting legendary archaeologist Phil Harding to explore the theories of Avebury Henge and the connections locals have with this vast and special monument.
