Blenheim Palace is one of the most remarkable historic houses in Britain. Gifted to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marloborough, after his victory at the Battle of Blenheim in 1704, it is in many ways an epic monument rather than a comfortable home.
Blenheim has witnessed its fair share of historical shenanigans. From the falling out between Queen Anne and Sarah Churchill - a relationship dramatised in the Hollywood movie, 'The Favourite', to the antics of schoolboys who sheltered at Blenheim during the Second World War. It is also, perhaps most famously, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
In this video, History Hit presenter Alice Loxton takes you on a whistlestop tour through Blenheim's history. These are the secrets of Blenheim Palace.
