History Hit has special access to the Six Lives exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery - a remarkable gathering of paintings, brought together for the first time, representing six Tudor women who had something in common: they were all married to King Henry VIII.

Prof. Suzannah Lipscomb takes a forensic look at the pictures, from full length paintings to miniature portraits. These women all used their portraits to project carefully thought-out messages, from their allegiances to their faith. If you know where to look they are full of telling details, subtle pointers that can be interpreted by an expert.

Joining Suzannah is NPG curator Charlotte Bolland. From Katherine of Aragon to Katherine Parr they unpick the tiny, revealing details that tell us so much, nearly 500 years after they were painted.
