As a recent subscriber and migrant from Timeline et al. on YouTube, I am happy with the content on offer so far. However, there are a few features lacking, and a few suggestions I would like to put forward to improve History Hit, especially since I am consistently told that this is the "Netflix for History".
Accessibility
- Subtitles in English, for the hard of hearing (with additional descriptions), and perhaps even in other languages. This is essential to make the content more accessible. Preferably not the auto-generated kind.
- Bookmarks to specific chapters or content within individual video or audio content, allowing returning to specific parts more easily.
- Dates on the content. Especially as the state of research and insight evolves, it is important to know when a historical documentary is made/published.
Features
- Tags and Links to persons, places, etc. featured within a video. For example, if a video features the plane "Spitfire", an appropriate tag would allow the user to find all content featuring the Spitfire.
- Additional Information beyond just the videos and podcasts themselves. History Hit has a chance to be a more complete resource for historical coverage, if it could provide expanded coverage, articles, and references related to a topic.
I would also like to see videos and content in other languages, as there is plenty of historical coverage not available in English. This would go hand-in-hand with subtitles.
Thank you for your consideration and feedback! Keep up the good work.
