He has worked since producing historical documentaries for Niall Ferguson, David Starkey and Michael Wood, as well as helping to write some of the accompanying books. He wrote an acclaimed account of a pivotal Tudor exploration of the north-east passage called Merchant Adventurers. His new book, Emigrants: Why the English Sailed to the New World is out now.
