Spooky castles, misty forests, deadly romance and other such tropes arose simultaneously in the late 18th century in a popular literature genre that we now call “Gothic”.
In today’s episode Kate is joined by Abby Boucher & Daniel Jenkin-Smith to talk about the origins of gothic fiction, how to define it, and touch on the gender dynamics in the books and films throughout the centuries.
