Journey To The Antarctic Episode 3- The Search For The Shipwreck Begins
20th Century • 11m
The third video of our Ednurance 22 'Journey to the Antarctic' series covers the arrival in Antarctica and the first launch of the AUV from the SA Agulhas II. With the search for the Endurance shipwreck underway, the expedition was thrown a challenge that Shackleton and his crew would've recognised, as they temporarily found themselves trapped in the ice. Fortunately the captain and crew had enough tricks up their sleeves to free the ship from the polar ice.
Crushed by the polar ice of the Weddell Sea in 1915, no previous attempt to locate the wreckage of Endurance has been successful.
